Available methods vary by account profile; XM displays the current options, currencies and minimums in Funding → Deposit.

The short answer

XM commonly supports four funding families for Malaysian accounts: credit and debit cards, bank transfers, local transfers and e-wallets, with a commonly published starting amount of USD 5. The exact providers available to you are shown after login under Funding → Deposit, and that live list is the one to trust: payment providers and regional availability change faster than any article can.

Each method displays its own minimum, supported currencies and processing time before you commit.

Cards

Where card funding is offered, it is usually the fastest route for smaller first deposits — funds typically credit quickly and the minimum is low. Use a card in your own name and check which currency the transaction is charged in before confirming, since your card issuer may convert MYR at its own rate on top.

Bank and local transfers

Depending on the configuration shown to Malaysian accounts, XM can offer international bank transfer or a supported local-transfer route. Transfers suit larger deposits. Before sending, copy exactly from your XM Funding screen:

  • The beneficiary details XM specifies
  • The required payment reference
  • The sending currency and any minimum
  • What your own bank charges for the transfer

Always use the instructions inside your verified profile — never details from an email, chat message or third-party page. (Fake “XM deposit agents” are a known scam pattern across the region; the real XM only takes deposits through the methods in your Funding screen.)

E-wallets

XM supports e-wallet funding where individual providers operate; the wallet brands currently usable from Malaysia are listed in your Funding area. The wallet account must be in the same name as your XM profile — mismatched names are the most common cause of rejected e-wallet deposits.

Depositing ringgit (MYR)

You can pay in MYR: XM converts your payment into the trading account's base currency where needed and shows the exchange rate before you confirm. Two checks save money:

  • Avoid double conversion — if your bank converts MYR before it reaches XM and XM converts again, you pay two spreads. Pick the route where conversion happens once.
  • Choose a sensible base currencyat account opening — if you'll deposit regularly from MYR, a base currency that minimises repeated conversion keeps costs down over time.

Fees and verification

XM states it charges no deposit or withdrawal fees of its own; what you can still pay is your bank's or wallet's charge plus conversion costs, both visible on the confirmation screen. Complete verification before funding — it is required before withdrawals anyway, and a verified profile sees the full method list. Note that withdrawals later return to the source you deposited from first, so fund with the method you would also want to be paid back to — timings and delay causes are covered in our XM withdrawal guide, and the broker itself in our full XM review.

Deposit bonuses for Malaysian accounts

Eligible new Malaysian clients registering through the PC888 partner offer may see XM's advertised promotions: a $30 no-deposit bonus plus tiered deposit bonuses (100% up to $200, then 50% up to $500, then 20% up to $5,000 — up to $5,700 combined). Bonus credit is trading credit, not withdrawable cash, and availability is confirmed by the offer screen in your own Member Area. The conditions are documented in our XM $30 bonus check.

XM Malaysia deposits — FAQ

What is the minimum XM deposit in Malaysia?

The commonly published starting amount is $5 (or equivalent) for mainstream account types like Standard and Ultra Low. Individual payment methods can set a different minimum — the Funding screen in your verified profile shows the figure that applies to each method.

Can someone else fund my XM account?

No — use a card, bank account or wallet held in your own name. XM matches payment ownership to the verified account holder, and third-party funding is a standard anti-money-laundering red flag that can hold up both deposits and later withdrawals.

Can I deposit Malaysian ringgit directly?

Yes — XM accepts deposits in different currencies, converting into your trading account's base currency where needed. The exchange rate is displayed before you confirm in WebTrader or the XM App. Watch for double conversion: if your bank also converts, you pay two spreads.

Does XM charge deposit fees in Malaysia?

XM states it does not charge its own deposit or withdrawal fees. Your bank, card issuer or wallet provider can still apply charges, and currency conversion carries a cost inside the rate — the confirmation screen shows what you'll actually pay.

Do I need to verify before depositing?

Verifying first is the cleanest setup: prepare an accepted ID document and a recent Malaysian proof of address, and complete the checklist XM shows. Verification also unlocks withdrawals and any promotional credit, so doing it before funding avoids delays later.

Does XM support local bank transfer or FPX in Malaysia?

XM offers local-transfer routes in some markets, and the honest answer is that availability changes: whether an FPX-style local rail is currently offered to Malaysian accounts is shown only in Funding → Deposit after login. Treat any fixed list — including on this page — as a snapshot, and the live Funding screen as authoritative.

Does partner code PC888 change my deposit options?

No — PC888 links your registration to this site's partner offer and never changes funding methods, minimums or fees. For eligible new Malaysian clients it connects the account to XM's advertised promotions, shown in your own Member Area.
