Looking for FBS alternatives? XM is the first account we would compare. It keeps the familiar MT4 and MT5 platforms, publishes a low starting deposit and gives you a useful choice between Standard and Ultra Low. The right decision still begins with the reason you are considering a change.

This guide is for readers who want a practical next account, not a list of twenty brokers. It explains where XM can improve the fit and what to check before moving money. For the direct feature comparison, start with XM vs FBS.

Why are you looking beyond FBS?

Start with one clear reason. Perhaps you want a simpler account menu, a different cost structure, another funding route or a promotion that fits your profile. A specific reason can be tested. “I want a better broker” cannot.

FBS currently publishes a $5 starting deposit, floating spreads from 0.7 pips and no trading commission on its general conditions page. It also provides MT4 and MT5. Those features mean there is no need to pretend that every FBS user has the same problem.

XM becomes the stronger alternative when its account structure gives you a better match. Standard is the direct route for traders who want spread-led pricing and access to eligible promotions. Ultra Low is the natural second option when lower trading costs matter more. You can inspect both before making a deposit.

XM gives you a simple first account decision

XM's global account menu publishes Standard and Ultra Low with a $5 minimum deposit. Shares is a separate higher-capital account. The menu can vary by country, so use the options shown during your own application rather than copying somebody else's screenshot.

Standard is the easier starting point if you want familiar pricing and may qualify for a regional bonus. Ultra Low deserves attention if your usual instruments, holding period and trade frequency make lower spreads or overnight charges more valuable.

That creates a useful two-step process: inspect Standard first, then compare Ultra Low using the same symbols. Our XM account-types guide explains the differences without requiring you to fund the account.

Compare total cost on trades you understand

FBS advertises floating spreads from 0.7 pips and no trading commission. XM's cost depends on the selected account and instrument. Neither headline tells you what a completed trade will cost at the time you place it.

Choose two or three instruments you already follow. Record the spread, any commission, overnight financing and currency conversion for equal exposure. Check the quotes during the hours you normally trade rather than comparing unrelated screenshots.

Imagine one account shows a 1.0-pip spread with no commission and another shows 0.6 pips plus a separate round-trip charge. The smaller spread is not automatically the cheaper trade. Convert both into the same currency and include the holding period. These are teaching figures, not current XM or FBS prices.

Read our XM fees guide for the cost categories to record. XM is the better fit only when the account offered to you improves the total that matters for your trades.

A $5 minimum is an entry requirement, not a trading plan

Both XM and FBS publish a $5 starting point. Your bank, card or wallet can have a different transaction minimum, and the position you intend to open has its own margin requirement. Check all three amounts.

XM's low entry point makes it easy to create an account and inspect the available setup. It does not mean you need to deposit immediately, and it does not make a large leveraged position suitable for a small balance.

Use demo for order-entry practice. When you consider live trading, choose the exposure first and calculate the margin. Our XM minimum-deposit guide separates the account threshold from a practical funding amount.

Compare bonus usefulness, not the largest number

FBS publishes deposit-bonus terms. XM also advertises deposit bonuses for eligible regions. In both cases, the promotional amount is trading credit rather than cash you can withdraw.

We prefer XM as the account to explore because the promotion sits alongside a clear Standard-versus-Ultra-Low decision. If an offer is available, you can decide whether the extra margin or the lower-cost account matters more for your use case.

Read the offer attached to your profile. Confirm the eligible account, qualifying deposit, credit-removal rules and what happens when you withdraw. An “up to” amount is a cap under stated conditions, not a promise that every applicant receives it.

Our XM deposit-bonus guide explains how deposited cash, trading credit and eligible profits differ. Choose the account first; treat the promotion as an extra feature rather than the whole decision.

Keeping MetaTrader makes the move easier

XM and FBS both support MT4 and MT5, so the basic interface may feel familiar. Your FBS credentials will not work on an XM server, though. The new account comes with its own login, server and symbol list.

Before using live funds, check your indicators, templates and Expert Advisors on demo. An MT4 tool does not automatically work on MT5. Also inspect each symbol's contract size, trading hours and minimum volume instead of assuming that the same lot number gives identical exposure.

If you are undecided between the platforms, use our MT4 vs MT5 comparison. The platform choice and broker choice are related, but they are not the same decision.

Funding and eligibility decide whether the alternative is practical

Readers in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia should register with their real residence and inspect the company named in the application. A translated webpage or local payment logo does not by itself establish local regulation.

Compare the deposit and withdrawal route together. Check the supported method, transaction currency, possible conversion, minimum amount and return-to-source procedure. XM says its general minimum is $5, while noting that payment-method minimums vary.

For local examples, see our guides to XM funding in Malaysia and SGD payment costs. The final check should always be the live funding menu for your verified account.

How to move from FBS to XM without rushing

  1. Name the improvement you want. Account choice, total cost, funding or an eligible offer should be measurable.
  2. Open XM with accurate details. Confirm the entity, account menu and platform available for your residence.
  3. Test the setup on demo. Check your symbols, volume, tools and order controls before considering live funds.
  4. Save your FBS records. Keep statements and payment references you may need. Opening XM does not move them.
  5. Plan open positions separately. Do not close or duplicate a trade merely to make the account change feel complete.
  6. Confirm the funding route. Use a payment method in your own name and understand where a later withdrawal returns.

You can keep an existing account while exploring XM. That lets you compare the setup without turning research into an immediate switch. For the complete XM overview, continue to our XM review.

FBS alternatives FAQ

What is the best FBS alternative?

XM is our preferred FBS alternative for traders who want a clear Standard-versus-Ultra-Low account choice, MT4 or MT5 and the ability to inspect an eligible regional promotion. The best fit still depends on the account and funding route available in your country.

Is XM better than FBS?

We prefer XM as the first alternative to explore because its account menu creates a simple choice between a straightforward Standard account and the cost-focused Ultra Low option. Compare your usual instruments and payment method before deciding.

Do XM and FBS both have a $5 minimum deposit?

Both publish a starting point of $5. That does not guarantee every payment method accepts $5, or that $5 provides enough margin for the position you intend to open. Check the live funding screen and calculate the trade first.

Can I move an FBS account directly to XM?

No. XM requires a separate registration. Your FBS login, balance, open positions and server details do not transfer. You can explore XM on demo and plan the two accounts independently.

Does XM offer a bonus to traders leaving FBS?

XM advertises deposit bonuses for eligible regions, but the offer is not specifically a switching reward. Availability and percentage vary by profile and country. Bonus credit is for trading and is not withdrawable cash.

Final verdict

XM is the FBS alternative we would explore first. The account choice is easy to understand, the published entry point is low, and you can keep using MetaTrader while checking the exact costs and funding methods offered to you.

Treat the new account as a fresh setup rather than an automatic transfer. Compare one familiar instrument, practise on demo and make your first live decision only after the account terms are clear.
